Tournament

Planning a 3 game tournament that's probably not going to make it :(

General Rules that counts for all games:

- You miss 3 turns in a row without telling me and your'e OUT.
- NO team victories. You can still make teams but "There can be only one"
- Cheats : Only Chaff and Split fleet is alowed. List is HERE
- All games will be anonymous, which means no email addresses will be published, no players will use their "standard" race names.
- No CA or HE please. They are known to be monsters and yes, any race can become a monster if you know how to play them but it's kinda useless if you play/download a monster that anybody can win with.

I'll put up a vote each new game on the "Theme" of race names.

Sparse!

Basically a Large galaxy Sparse Streched into a Huge galaxy's space.

We'll be starting with this one because of the chance for anyone to meet everyone is very unlikely so this one will be purely for points.

Settings

Galaxy size : Large
Density : Normal or Sparse (For a Medium Galaxy)
Players : 16 Minimum
No Race limitations (Except for CA and HE)
Player positions : Distant
Accelerated BBS : ON
Player scores : ON ?
Galaxy Clumping : ON

Winning Conditions : Player with the highest Score as calculated by me or somebody who knows better.

Random Race Roulette (RRR)TM

Get 16 random Races (non HE and CA). Everybody'll get the same 16 races to chooses from.

This is where it gets interesting. No more fun LRT's that youre familiar with, no monster races. This'll be a pure test of skill. The fact that us beginners don't HAVE any skill will make this even more interesting.

Settings

Galaxy size : Medium
Density : Normal
Players : 13 Best players from the previous game
No Race limitations (Except for CA and HE)
Player positions : Farther
Accelerated BBS : ON
Player scores : ON ?
Galaxy Clumping : ON

Winning Conditions : Player with the highest Score as calculated by me or somebody who knows better.

Core!

A Large Galaxy's planets into a Medium Galaxy's space with Max Minerals.

Think "Free for all" and your very close to what will happen in this one. Diplomacy will be paramount if you want to survive and any races with special toys will be better at trading than a race that can only offer minerals or ships. donjon made this remark about trading in the Core! game : Most trade that occurs in stars! is for tech levels, and not for toys. And I've played in games where I have been "given" 5000kt of mins and the large freighters that go with it to go to the MT...When you get in a good alliance the edges blur, what is good for one member is good for all, even if there is no obvious advantage to the player which actually does the gifting.

Settings

Galaxy size : Medium
Density : Dense or Packed (For a Large Galaxy)
Players : 10 Best players from previous game
No Race limitations (Except CA and HE)
Player positions : Distant
Accelerated BBS : ON
Player scores : OFF ?
Galaxy Clumping : ON
Max Minerals : ON

Winning Conditions : Player with the highest Score as calculated by me or somebody who knows better OR Last man Standing.

Timing (Thanks to donjon)

All games will run in succession; the first 30 turns will be set to 24 hour spacing for each game, the next 50 turns will be set to 48 hour spacing, however the last 15 turns of a round will also have the first 30 turns of the next round simultaneously. This is to ensure that the tournament can be successfully completed within a year.

Rankings (Thanks to donjon)

The rankings from each round will be summed and the All-Round Player Award will go to the player with the least value.

For example:
Player 1: Round 1- Rank 1, Round 2- Rank 4, Round 3- Rank 2... Total: 7.
Player 2: Round 1- Rank 3, Round 2- Rank 2, Round 3- Rank 1... Total: 6.
Player 2 has the best overall ranking. (The guy with the least "points" will win)

In the case of ties for top place, the players will duel for the honor of top place. (I'll talk to EDog for more info on deuling)

Scoring (Thanks to donjon)

The host will perform calculations very similar to the scoring calculations used within the game, with the following exceptions

1. SpaceDocks get a point value of 1
2. Ships with a rating over 3500 will be counted as Capital Class.
