The Tech Browser / Ship Designer

Here are a few suggestions on how the techbrowser could be implemented for Freestars. This is a client side feature so it can be implemented differently in different clients. This gives a great oppertunity to make freestars alot more graphical and add alot more eyecandy than the original Stars! The pics are all renders from my original models that has been superbly edited by Micha. Of course nothing is set in stone so any client writers that would like to have different backgound colors or different layouts, just ask :)

Tech Browser Sugestion

1. Our first idea came from X-Com 3's tech browser

Now, the exact layout is up to the individual client but here is what we came up with. This would work with both equipment and ships. Notice that most of the pics look less "rendered" and more "Drawn" thanks to Micha's superb editing skills.

2. Our second idea was for the ships to have the slots and stats instead of the wireframe in behind.

3. We also put a nice space background behind another one.

Ofcourse, these are just small web pics. My Idea is to have the techbrowser fill the entire screen with the pic alteast half the screen full, but again this is up to the individual client.

Ship Design Suggestions

1. A suggestion was made to move the ship slots to the front of the pic like so.

2. Another was to reposition the slots to fit on the pic like so. (Either blue or space background)

OR

This is basically what I have in mind, with either the blue or the space background. Click on the pic for the nice bigger pic. It might entail a bit more coding but I think the effect would be well worth it.
